DISCLAIMER: Well, nothing has changed from chapter 1. I still do not own anything I am about to write about *cries*

And So We Begin...

Last time on the Brawl to end 'em all, 22 heroes from different worlds were abducted by mysterious red lights, and then woke up in a totally different world. These 22 heroes discovered that they had been chosen to participate in something called Super Smash Bros. Brawl, although what that meant was beyond them. They were given rooms in the Smash Mansion, a five story building in which epic battles were fought. The butler of the mansion, Lexington, explained very little of their purpose and ended chapter 1 by pitting Mario against Kirby. And now, our story continues...

`Mario leaped at Kirby and performed a kick towards the pink puffball. Kirby, not expecting such aggressiveness from Mario, was thrown backwards towards the edge of the floating platform.

Back in the auditorium, popcorn and drinks in hand, the other smashers watched the screen with great interest. They noticed that whenever Mario attacked Kirby and vice versa, the percentage at the bottom of the screen next to each challenger’s picture went up. Yoshi raised his had. ((translated from Yoshi))”So,” he asked. “What’s up with those percents? And why is Mario over 100%? I thought percents only went up to 100%.”

Before Lexington could reply, a young man in a Hawaiian shirt came into the auditorium. “That dudes,” he said, “is the damage percentage. The higher it goes, the further the dude hit goes. Like that there Kirby.” He pointed at the screen as Mario performed his Forward Smash and sent the puffball flying. “I’m Joshua by the way,” the man said brushing his hair back. Mario continued to punch Kirby off the stage.

Kirby, however, had different plans. He puffed up as much as possible as he slowly floated towards the stage. He then pulled a sword out of nowhere and using the momentum of throwing it, grabbed onto the edge of the platform. He climbed back on and continued fighting.

Mario, however, had found an innocent looking blaster sitting on the ground. Not even bothering to wonder where such a strange item came from, he fired it point blank at Kirby.

Back in the auditorium, Meta Knight gasped when Kirby didn’t show any sign of injury. Lexington explained. “We do not want and casualties on the battlefield, so we created a system in which they are not physically hurt, although if Ike were to put a sword through your head, I’m certain you would notice.” Meta knight was not entirely happy with this.

During the fighting, the screen had flashed and a floating orb with an offset cross on it started flying around the stage. Both fighters stopped.

Mario looked at the orb and said, “I don’t know-a why but… I feel like I should a-break it.” Kirby shared his feelings.

At the same time, so quickly the audience didn’t even see them move, the two fighters jumped for the floating orb. Mario got to it first and hit it with a yellow cape he wore, though where he wore it was a mystery. After hitting the orb, the plumber glowed with a golden fire.

Back at the auditorium, Peach was trying to buy a bag of skittles, marked B1, from a vending machine, totally oblivious to the fact her boyfriend was on fire. She just kept muttering at the stupid machine as she tried pressing the buttons. “Press one,” she said. “Press one”

Back on the field Mario, in an awe-filled moment, unleashed twin balls of fire that spun in a flaming vortex across the battlefield. Kirby, taken by surprise, was hit by the powerful attack and was launched away from the platform. He went off screen and exploded in a jet of white fire. Both Meta Knight and Dedede screamed, “Kirby! NOOOOOOOO!”

The screen changed and the announcer said that the winner was Mario. Mario struck a pose, proud to have won, but in the back of the white room was Kirby, happily clapping for his opponent, though to be fair he did have a rather confused look on his face.

The challengers exited the stadium through the elevators again and everyone rushed forward to congratulate them on a job well done. Only Meta Knight remained, pondering what he had just seen.

Lexington left the room for some unknown reason, leaving Joshua to tell the contenders what had just happened. He cleared his throat. “Well, first off let’s start with that ball that set Mario on fire.” Peach looked very started at this point, seeing as how she was trying to by skittles during the match.

“That is what we techies call a Smash Ball. Basically, it gives you this awesome attack that for most is a finisher move, a sort-of critical hit if you know what I mean,” Joshua explained. “Each character has a different Final Smash, which is that critical hit.”

“Next, we have the items. You saw that blaster Mario had?” All but Peach nodded. “Well, at random times items will appear on the stage. Don’t ask how or where they come from, they’re just there to help if you are losing or if you want an awesome win. Besides those blasters we’ve got pokeballs (Red gasped), Assist Trophies, which summon other characters who decided not to fight. They’re also staying here so you can meet them all later. And then there are hammers, shells, a whole lot of bombs, and…” A loud snore interrupted him. Wario is seemed had fallen asleep.

Joshua frowned. “Well,” he said. “Let’s just set up another match. Um, Pit and Fox, why don’t you guys give it a try?” The angel nodded and went with Fox into the elevator. They disappeared and the screen lit up. Everyone returned to their seats.

The stage was a shadowy hanger of sorts. Something similar to Meta Knight’s mask hung in the distance. Meta Knight blinked, but said nothing. He would take this up with the others later.

Joshua leaned over to Link. “So, you want to make a bet on the outcome? Spectator rights you know.”

An arwing flew onto the screen and dropped Fox off and Pit descended from the sky in a holy light. “3, 2, 1, GO!” the announcer said. And the fighting started.

Elsewhere in the mansion, in a dark room lit up only by a computer screen filled with pictures, a single white gloved hand appeared and pressed a button. Next to the first picture, a light turned on. The hand withdrew into the shadows.

Meanwhile, the Halberd has risen from the hanger, revealing what it really was. Both Dedede and Kirby had joined Meta Knight in confusion as to how the battleship had become part of this tournament. Pit, standing on one side of the flying platform, kept spamming his arrows. Fox, not phased in the least, slowly walked forward, using his reflector when needed. “I am so getting tired of this,” he said, and picked up one of the glass capsules that had appeared in front of him. He looked at it a second to long and got sent on his back by an arrow. Immediately Pit flew forward and started attacking with his bow spin attack. Fox jumped out of the way, the capsule going above his head. Suddenly it broke, revealing a young woman in a blue tunic-like dress. She landed on the ground, crouched, and then… disappeared.
Link asked Joshua, “Um, what just happened?” Joshua could only smile. A second later, on screen, a blue slash appeared and Pit went flying. The women had appeared again, hitting the angel boy with her sword. She stood up, nodded at Fox, and then vanished. Fox jumped into the air, and kicked Pit off of the screen just as the platform landed on the Halberd. The screen dimmed and the white room came back, this time with Fox striking a pose, twirling his gun around before holstering it. He then stared off at the audience. Pit clapped politely in the back.

Back in the dark room, the hand appeared again, pressing a different button. The light next to the first picture vanished, replaced with an octagonx10 symbol. The picture filled the screen and the hand withdrew once more.

The audience clapped wildly but stopped when only Pit emerged from the elevator. They looked around but could not see Fox anywhere.

The screen lit up again, a black screen with a red circle bearing a black silhouette on it. A message read, “Challenger Approaching. A new foe has appeared!” The screen vanished and was replaced by a small, quiet looking town. The buildings that took up the screen were two houses and a drug store. Fox’s Arwing dropped him off on one house and the space animal looked over at the other house, where a young kid was shaking soot off his head. The usual “3, 2, 1, GO!” sounded and they were off.

It was a pathetically short match. Fox simply reflected the PK Thunder the young boy sent flying at him and it knocked the boy onto the grass below the drug store. A second later, a car drove along the road and somehow hit the boy on the grass, sending him flying off the screen. Fox stared as the screen dimmed.

The screen changed again as the boy’s head appeared next to a message claiming that, “Ness, the PSI-powered youth, has joined the Brawl!” then it dimmed and went blank.

From the elevator came Fox and the kid. He emerged slowly and said, very timidly, “Um, hi?” A second later, the rest of the smashers ran toward him to greet the new challenger.

“Hi! I’m-a Mario!”
“The guys call me Red.”
“Pika Pika!”
“Uh, where you come from?”
“HI! I’m Lucas! Wow, that was an awesome PK Thunder! Where did you learn it? Are you from my world too?”

Joshua separated Ness from the others. “Guys, give him some air. Anyways, hey Ness welcome to the Smash Mansion. You already know the drill but you don’t have a room. I think you’re on floor 4 with Lucas here. Since you guys are from the same world, I guess you two will work well together. Now, if you’ll excuse me, that’s all the battles for now. Go out and have lunch. Oh, and those elevators go to any stage in the game so just shout where you want to go and you can go there. So, if you want, you can go have lunch on a stage much like your home.” With that, Joshua walked off.

The Smashers walked into the foyer and then entered a door leading into the cafeteria. On one side was the kitchen in which a young women was cooking.

“Hi,” she said. “I’m your cook Veronica. Get what you want and eat. Brownies are for dessert.” The smashers gathered their food and went off to eat.

Ness and Lucas where accompanied by Fox and Pit to the auditorium. There, they entered the elevators and heard Ness shout what sounded like, “Oh-Net!” Lucas, Fox, and Pit said the same. A moment later, they found themselves on the stage that Fox had just fought Ness on. They sat down on the roofs of the buildings and avoided the grass like the plague.

“How did that car hit you?” Lucas asked. Ness shrugged.

“Who knows,” he said. “They only told me the basic deal of this Brawl thing and then left me here in Onnet until someone showed up. That wasn’t the first time a car hit me when I was on the grass. It makes no sense”

The group continued eating until they were done. Then, they looked at each other. “How do you leave?” Pit asked.

Ness walked forward onto the street and crossed it, and then vanished where the edge of the screen would be. The others followed and found themselves in the elevators again, back in the auditorium. They walked out towards the foyer but stopped when they saw a new bulletin board posted against the wall. Fox read:

As the others gathered to read, Ness and Lucas looked at each other.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that is that. Chapter Three will also introduce another character (I hope) but I don’t expect to have it up for a little bit. Enjoy this while you can.

P.S. Who here knows who Joshua is?
Well, guess what people. Chapter 2 is up now. Enjoy.

Oh and try and figure out my little challenge at the end. BUT READ THE STORY FIRST!

Again, I do not own anything mentioned in this fan fic.
